Dominic Stellino is head Barista at Epitome Cafe Restaurant in Lane Cove, Sydney.
Tell us a little bit about your background as a Barista
I started as a Barista 8 years ago at my very first job. I was thrown into the Barista environment one busy Sunday and had to teach myself everything. Though that didn't deter me. I loved it from the word go and have never looked back!
What do you like about working as a barista?
The interaction with customers and knowing people come back just for you.
What skill do you bring to the bar?
Speed and consistency. Consistency is crucial in coffee making.
Where do you get your inspiration?
My inspiration comes from within. The sheer fact that I was self taught and always striving to learn more really inspires me to do better.
What’s your signature drink?
Macchiato. Creating the three layers required for a perfect macchiato can be quite tricky but I seem to have it down. There's nothing more satisfying than creating the perfect looking macchiato.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans for the future are to own and operate my very own cafe. Building the success of it and hopefully starting another one. I would love to own a few cafes scattered all over Sydney and maybe down to Melbourne.
